REMOTE LEARNING PLAN BSNBCS 2023-24
Based on the work that BSNBCS did to reopen its school building for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school year, BSNBCS has developed a comprehensive reopening plan for 2023-23, in compliance with safe operational guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the New York City Department of Health (NYCDOH). The plan was initially published on July 30th 2020 and will be regularly revised and updated to reflect current scientific knowledge regarding the prevention of SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) transmission.
BSNBCS American Recovery Plan
On March 11, 2021, the President signed into law the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP). ARP makes available $122.8 billion nationally in a third round of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. New York State has been allocated nearly $9 billion under the ARP Act’s Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund. Below is BSNBCS’s submission to NYSED for these funds, the budget narrative and FS-10 budget.

Under the interim final requirements, each LEA that receives ARP ESSER funds must develop a plan for its use of ARP ESSER funds and submit it to the SEA within a reasonable timeline determined by the SEA. The plan must contain, at a minimum, the extent to which and how the funds will be used to implement prevention and mitigation strategies that are, to the extent practicable, consistent with CDC guidance; how the LEA will use the funds it reserves under section 2001(e)(1) of the ARP Act to address the academic impact of lost instructional time; how the LEA will use its remaining ARP ESSER funds; and how the LEA will ensure the interventions it implements will respond to the social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs of all students and particularly those students disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Local Educational Authority (LEA) Plan for Use of ARP ESSER Funds
As a part of this process, BSNBCS is engaging in meaningful consultation with its stakeholders, community members and other members of the public by providing the opportunity to provide input in the development of its plan. If you have input on the use of federal pandemic relief funds, please contact us at covidinfo@bsnbcs.org, call 718-453-1001 to provide verbal input or correspond with us by providing written correspondence to 82 Lewis Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11206.
