I am an east coaster at heart. I grew up in Massachusetts where I got my BA in Sociology from UMASS Boston. I headed to San Francisco right after I graduated and lived there for the last twenty years. While living in San Francsico I obtained my K-8 teaching credential in 2004 and a MA in Elementary Education in 2010 from San Francsico State University. I taught at a Title One International Baccalaurate school and cowrote six fourth grade units of study that were continually revised over the years. My final year as a classroom teacher involved teaching a 4/5 combo before moving on to become an Instructional Reform Facilitator in San Francisco. The last three years, I worked at one of the highest need schools in San Francisco and coached new and seasoned K-5 teachers in all areas, from content to management. I also facilated all of the team’s weekly PLCs (called GLCs in San Francisco Unified School District). Last year we hired a Literacy Coach and more of my time was spent coaching teachers in just math and I was feeling pretty jazzed about the direction I was taking. I am excited about focusing my coaching in math as this was a direction I wanted to take when I decided to move to NYC to be near family. I am so excited to be working at BSNBCS with such an amazing group of talented people. No matter what kind of work I am doing, I am a teacher at heart with a passion for working in high need schools. I look forward to helping teachers grow their practices in ways that best meet the needs of a diverse population of students. In my free time, I love to take long walks with my dog, go to the gym, attend cycling or yoga classes, experience new food venues, travel the world and spend time with loved ones.
