The BSNBCS Extended Learning (also called After School) program creates a safe and nurturing environment that extends learning beyond the regular school day by using hands-on service learning, fine arts, and enrichment opportunities to expand students perspectives on self and the world.

Extended Learning:  ›Removing barriers to learning and increasing access to learning supports and enrichment opportunities

Student-centered and family-centered
Building on organizational commitment, capacity and flexibility
Engaging and being active in the local community
The Extended Learning program is divided between Middle and Lower school (see below middle school). Middle school is run by our own staff with a few outside contractors. Lower School contracts with an outside provider to offer subsidized programming for K-5.
Middle School Programming – SONYC/DYCD

BSNBCS has a contract with DYCD (NYC’s Department of Youth and Community Development) enabling free programming for middle school scholars from 3:30 to 6pm. Our Middle School program was awarded a two-year extension due to it’s escalating success. Last year, in addition to engaging in sports, literature related, and STEM activities, the middle school DYCD team culminated the year’s work by performing The Wiz. Past activities have included Basketball, Dance, Hairbraiding, Culinary Arts, Girls Group, Minecraft, Chess, Flag Football Soccer, Tribeca Film, and more!

Lower School Programming – Project Gametime

BSNBCS has a low-fee afterschool program for families of our Kindergarten through 5th-grade students. Afterschool per family is $35 a week to be paid once a month. It is a program that runs Monday-Friday from 4pm until 6pm.

During the program, students enjoy snack, homework time and a variety of physical activities. Take a look!
