BSNBCS Walks with Governor Cuomo in 50th WIADC!

BSNBCS Walks with Governor Cuomo in 50th West Indian American Day ParadeBrooklyn, NY: On Monday September 4th, Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School community members marched with Governor Cuomo in the 50th West Indian American Day Parade. Two dozens students, staff members, and members of the Board joined Governor Cuomo, Rev. Al Sharpton, Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and Public Advocate Letitia James for a unique experience all will remember for years to come!Being part of the parade made long-time and new community members feel truly special: “I’m a new employee, but I feel like I have been here for years. It was a great feeling to be there with Governor Cuomo and with everyone else” said Ms. Perez, a Middle School Spanish Teacher.

In the past few years, BSNBCS has garnered interest from community leaders who appreciate its effort to recruit a student body with diverse needs, connect learning to real-world experiences, and provide robust and on-going professional development to all its staff members. The school, which is located in a private building formerly housing St. John’s Prep, is thankful for City and State leadership in providing rental assistance to existing charter schools.
